| Statement | My work centres on exploration and connection – to self, to nature and to others. I’ve found profound healing of past medical trauma and abusive relationships through transmuting those experiences into creative works – self portraiture in digital and on film, written word and mixed media work, alongside film and installation pieces.

| Biography | Solen’s multidisciplinary practices move fluidly between visual art, commercial work and events. Valuing process and collaboration, she uses creativity as a tool for exploration, expression, healing, and connection. Solen’s practice encompasses digital and analogue photography, written word, film and mixed media collage. Their work centres on creative play as a method of exploring and transmuting difficult emotions and past experiences along with connection to self, others and nature. Her collaborative work will be exhibited in this year’s Visual Arts Scotland Biennial at National Galleries Scotland; she was commissioned by Art Walk Portobello, funded by Creative Scotland, to produce a film installation. Solen has exhibited, and on occasion curated, in numerous group shows across Edinburgh alongside a solo show at Agitate at Studies in Photography on William Street. Her work has also featured in exhibitions in Glasgow, London and Paris. |
