Statement
| Statement | Artist Statement. My practice encompasses oil painting on paper and drawing with graphite and oil pastels. I embarked on this direction in 2015, painting and drawing as I housesat around Europe. This sometimes nomadic way of life has to an extent informed my use of materials and the size of my work (ranging from around A4 up to a max of 750 mm sq). My inspiration comes from a wide base but regularly ‘the mark of man’, whether on the land or what is left behind as nature begins to reclaim. I often seem drawn to what may be thought of mundane…a section of road; a manhole cover; a light fixture from a ceiling etc My travel has definitely inspired this but maybe not in traditional sense of the landscape say. My first public project, 2017 was a successful kickstarter ‘small drawings of the everyday’, each drawing over 100 days conveying something I noticed that day.. My 1st solo show is in Edinburgh April 25.
