Statement

Statement

My practice currently centres around the themes of childhood creativity, surrealism, hauntology, popular culture, nostalgia and the philosophies of self-help and transcendental meditation.

Fusion Jazz, specifically the seminal outputs of both Miles Davis and Sun RA figure greatly in my studio process.

I’m currently working at an increased scale towards an exciting opportunity in the coming new year (2024).

From 2024 onwards my work will be shown under the new adopted name of  “Shaunie Boy” some existing works will be updated and filtered through this new title and all web and social media will also be updated or replaced under this new name.

Biography

Biography

I’ve been a practicing Artist since graduating from Grays School of Art in 1999 BA Art & Design (Painting), and then again in 2002 with my MA Art & Design. I’ve exhibited regularly with the RSA, SSA, RSW, VAS AAS and the RGI. My work has also been shown at the Discerning Eye, in the Open Eye (Edinburgh), Roger Billcliffe (Glasgow) and various other commercial outlets and art fairs.

I’ve been a PT Lecturer in Fine Art for over 20 years working with UHI at Moray School of Art, my work supporting students and in developing the curriculum has been a considerable undertaking along with building renovation and bringing up kids (life).

I’ve also been the studio rep at the WASPS Nairn Studios for about the same time, initially in our High St building but then iniating and facilitating our move to our current premises in an old local primary school. I was also a significant voice in advocating for studio provision in Inverness and was involved in Inverness Creative Academy project at various stages, latterly serving on the steering group.

I continue to make work, Lecture PT and manage our building,,,, exhibiting less often whilst currently developing a larger more ambitious body of work for exhibition in 2024.
